The City of Nevrast

Large and cosmopolitan, the city-state of Nevrast is one of the most prominent regions on the Surface, as well as being the locale where all new Surface characters start out after leaving the Mini-Mud. The city includes an inn for characters to rent rooms, a full range of shops—armorer, weaponsmith, grocer, and wizard—a post office, a bank, and guildmasters for all fourteen classes for levels 1 through 10. The Cartography Guild office includes maps of the city itself and the immediate area surrounding it, invaluable reference guides for a newcomer to the realm.

The city is designed with multiple public squares. From the Temple at the north end and running southward in a straight line, the order is: Temple Square, Market Square, Central Square, and Common Square. Main Street runs east-west through Market Square, connecting it to the city's eastern and western gates. All the shops are along this road. To the south of Common Square is the Nevrast Zoo. To the east of Common Square is the Newbie Encampment, while below it is the Nevrast Sewer System.

Situated in northeastern Nevrast, the city's premier inn is renowned as one of the greatest hostelries of the Surface world. Here, adventurers of many races and from many lands gather and reside in between adventures, using the city of Nevrast as their base. The inn itself provides a safe base for adventurers to stay, where their equipment is secure. Powerful enchantments prevent violence on the premises. Next door to the east, under the same management, is a tavern with plentiful drink and free entertainment—or, at least, an in-house bard.

Wall Road runs along the western edge of the city, past the Ivory Tower, and leads to the southern gate of the city, from which a road leads to distant Raven's Bluff. The western highway runs through the west gate and toward the Shire and lands beyond, while the eastern road runs from Nevrast to the Midrealm, the Eastern Mountains, and eventually New Thalos, with other roads branching off to other destinations. From the north gate, an explorer can travel along the Northern Road toward the Stoneforge Mountains where the dwarves reside.
