he Undermine is one of the deepest delves of the Dwarfrealm of King Kerrin—and one of the most tragic. Once, in days gone by, dwarves mined freely here. Then the evil and hideous demon Malebar either penetrated the mine, or else was released from captivity within the deep earth by the dwarves—the sages cannot agree on this point—and swiftly seized control. Using his demonic arts, he slew many dwarves only to raise them again as shambling undead mockeries in his service. Now the miners serve him.

Thus far, the demon's control has not spread to the upper reaches of the Dwarfrealm, but the risk remains. King Kerrin would surely be grateful if some adventurer could rid him of the demon's threat.
