eneath the halls of King Kerrin's dwarven folk, carved further into the mountainside, is the level known as the First Deep. Once an integral part of the dwarven kingdom, these vaulted halls no longer ring with the sound of dwarven tools and dwarven laughter: rumor has it that evil beasts of some kind invaded this layer from deeper below, seized control, and drove the dwarves further up. The precise nature of the evil is another matter, for the dwarves will not speak of it.
