he Brandywine River leads south out of the Shire before merging with the Dark River to form the Rilghorn. Much of its length is lined by soft, green foliage and deep forests that provide the area with a down-tempo appeal. The lengthy flow of the Brandywine allows for easy travel through the various communities of the Shire. The river itself provides access to the Withywindle River and the Water. Used mainly by hobbits, its lackadaisical nature mimics the unique nature of the Shire's inhabitants. The various communities that have grown from the movement of the river have prospered through the years and continue to provide refuge to those who wish for a more rustic life.
