eep beneath the White Mountains to the east of Raven's Bluff is a complex of caves and tunnels hewn from the rock. Within these caves, the Master of Order and the Lord of Chaos fight an endless battle by proxy, through a giant chessboard with living pieces consecrated to Order or damned by Chaos. Mortal sages have dubbed this struggle the Eternal Stalemate, and thus the area gained its name.

Outside the environs of the enchanted chessboard proper, chaos warders and order sentinels patrol the twisting passages, enforcing the will of their respective lieges. High in the passages, the Master of Order and the Lord of Chaos themselves stand, viewing their proxy battleground from afar.
