o the west of the Shire are the Talonguard Mountains. In those mountains is the dwarven kingdom ruled over by the benevolent King Kerrin. The dwarves of this kingdom are a disciplined, law-abiding folk, and do not take kindly to trespassers in their domain, whether in the city where they dwell or in the mines where they toil, extracting metals and gems from the earth.

It is rumored that the deep subterranean caverns outside the city proper are home to some more savage creatures, monsters that have made a home for themselves in the depths and resist all attempts by the dwarven guards to root them out. Perhaps King Kerrin would look favorably on an adventurer who could defeat these creatures.
