Morannon

The Morannon, or Black Gate, is the fortress that guards the northern approach to Mordor. This great portal is flanked by the formidable twin Towers of the Teeth—Carchost and Narchost—which can withstand almost any assault. Garrisoned by fierce and vicious orcs, dedicated to the service of their lord Sauron of Mordor, the Morannon is a mighty stronghold.

To the north of the Black Gate are the Dead Marshes of Dagorlad, rumored to be inhabited by unquiet spirits akin to the vicious wraiths found within the Black Land. Beyond the marshes to the west lies the Forest of Ithilien, easternmost sanctuary of goodly folk, where the Dunedain Rangers of Ithilien maintain a watch on their evil eastern neighbor.
