The White Plains

Ancient legend holds that the White Plains were first settled by humans, perhaps kin to the people of the neighboring Midrealm, and probably allied with them. No survivor of the original people of the White Plains remains now to tell the tale of how their land came to be overrun by the monsters—giant floating eyeballs—who now call it home. Whether these creatures are a true race who invaded from some other land and drove the humans out, or abominations created by accidental or deliberate sorcery by wizards who dwelled within the White Plains, or were driven south by the oni whose own realm is situated beyond these plains, no one now knows. What is known is that these creatures are fierce and savage, attacking all who venture into their territory.

It is rumored that a few of the ancient towers built by humans deep within the White Plains still stand, and that the golems built by human wizards in their own image still guard them. If this is so, explorers are urged to travel with caution, for whatever may inhabit the towers now is certainly not human.
